Geographical Data:
1.The reliefs :
Many centuries ago, the inhabitants of the village chose to settle in this high altitude area (1813metters) of the HIGH ATLAS. The landscape is characterized by the domination of the mountains, the plateaux and the deep valleys. This structure makes the space reserved to farming and pasture activities narrower, in the same way, the difficulty of access restrains communication with other villages.
2.The forest :
Long time ago, oaks and junipers covered all the mountains encircling the village; forming a dense forest. This one knew how to resist the intensive exploitation of the lumberjacks who were manufacturing coal. This exploitation continued until the Eighties, this caused ecological disaster: the deterioration of this forest. Consequently, imbalance of the ecosystem appeared causing the desertion of fauna in addition to drought and erosion.
3.The Lac:
Within the high mountains, and at about 3 hours walk away from the village, a lake rich of trout fish spouts out, that the wandering shepherds exploit as a drinking resource for their flocks during summer, it is also used as camp-site for tourists. Though, the lake contains enormous quantities of water it does not nourish the brooks which feed the village.
Demographic Data :
According to a modest survey, there live approximately 780 inhabitant in the village. This population does not cease decreasing because of the rural exodus.
People in Taliouine speak Berber "Tachelhite", their traditions and habits are not different from those of the other villages located in the north of Ouarzazate at the foot of the High Atlas. As an example the gastronomy: the tagine, couscous, tea... etc. Secondly: the folklore "Ahouach", fibulas, henna, caftans, jellabas of wool... etc.
The majority of the adults are illiterate because of the absence of school until the Eighties of the last century.
1. The children:
Children suffer more from the modest situation of the families, their nutrition is not balanced, their clothing is so modest and there are few means of distraction especially with the lack of electricity (TV, games...)
2.The woman:
Being very active, she works all day long: she does the housework, the kitchen, the bread, she grinds the grains, brings drinking water, seeks for wood and fodder, gives the cattle to drink ... etc.
She spends her spare time with her neighbours at discussing while breaking almonds or weaving wool, whereas the activities of the men are limited to agriculture.
No one can deny that women endorse the lion's part of work, all in her own will because she considers it an obligation she should accomplish.
